SIM card requirements

  • GSM NANO SIM only
  • SIM card should have GPRS (data) function enabled
  • SMS request will function only if Caller ID function is enabled

1. Install SIM Card

  1. Open the waterproof rubber at the back of the device.
  2. Insert SIM card into the SIM slot, metal face down.
  3. Press and hold the power button until the RED light is on. It will be slow flashing when detecting signal, and then turns to quick flashing. Means device is on.
  4. Call the device SIM number and it is supposed to get through without answer. (if you are using a data sim which is not supporting call function, ignore this step.)
  5. Close the waterproof rubber back.

We strongly recommend you to charge the product before using it the first time. And please be sure SIM is inserted correctly before power on.

Charge: The RED light is steadily on during charging and turns off when it is fully charged.

If there is no LED light on, keep charging for 20 minutes and then press and hold the button to turn on the device, you will see RED LED light flashing and then turn to steadily on, and will turn off when fully charged.

2. Register your SIM card with a provider

Make sure the SIM card is in credit and activated.
Find out the APN, your network provider (O2, Vodaphone, Things mobile, EE) will be able to tell you)

3. Set the APN – This sounds more complicated than it is

APN is Access Point Name. The correct APN must be set to enable the device to connect network and send data to the server. Different SIMs have different APN, make sure you have confirmed the correct APN information with the SIM provider or you can google it. Some SIMs have a username & password. Check with provider.

SMS text command:
*apn*APN’s name*username*password*

Some APN goes without username and password, you can just leave them blank.

Example 1 – Things mobile (international)
APN TM
Username null
Password null

SMS command:
*apn*TM
Example 2 – Orange France
APN orange.fr
Username orange
Password orange

SMS command:
*apn*orange.fr*orange*orange*

Your phone will receive a confirmation text saying that the appointed APN is set.

4. Limit tracker to your mobile number only:

Use mobile phone to send this SMS text command:
*master*123456*+country code plus your mobile number*
to the device (the tracker) Sim number.

Example – SMS text command:
*master*123456*+449876543210*
(+44 refers to UK country code, 9876543210 refers to your own mobile phone number)

Once your mobile phone receives the confirmation sms, it will become the only master phone to the tracker.

NOTE: The device will ONLY listen and respond commands from this number unless you choose to turn on the multi controller function and open the device to any mobile phone number.

5. Track with SMS – on demand

The master number will receive a Google map link. Click the link to view the map via cellphone browser. If GPS location is invalid, device will reply the map link of the closest cell tower location instead.

And this function is suitable for smart phone user only.

SMS command:
*locatemap*
